First , I am writing this article in reference to my wife and her two sons. You see our lives have revolved around raising our two sons Mark and Brian. We have made many financial and life decisions solely based on what has been best for our family. We have sacrificed our own needs so our children could have a better life. Now as we are close to becoming "Empty Nesters" I would love to give my wife something very special for mothers day.
My gift to my wife for Mothers day is a wish and it concerns our oldest son Mark, and my youngest son Brian. You see our oldest son Mark is serving his country right now preserving our American freedom as many sons have done in the past for our country. He is in harms way every single day. My wish for my wife Tillie is that Mark comes home safe without any mental scars or physical injuries from his deployment to the desert. I long to see the glow in my wife's expression when she hugs her son another time.
You see I watch my wife every single night recite the soldiers prayer and it sometimes brings tears to my eyes. I try to hide my tears because I have assumed the role of being the strong one, but I too know that prayer by heart. You see I love my wife with all my heart because as I have every day for the past 21 years. I watch with a glow in my heart when my wife runs to the phone late in the evening because see is hoping it will be mark calling from the desert. I too am awake hoping. I watch my wife preparing packages to be sent to Mark and making sure every detail is in place, because you see in Tillie's heart Mark is still her baby. I watch as my wife worries every single day but when Mark calls she tries not to show it. That wife of mine is a strong women and I love her so.
Now our youngest son Brian is also going to serve his country. He leaves for basic training in June. My wife is sometimes very quiet and I know she is wondering why she has to worry about both her sons going off to war as many mothers have done before. Soon she will preparing packages for Brain too.
My Mothers day wish for my wife is futuristic and very simple. You see I just want my sons and my wife united together once again on Mothers Day. I want to see that loving glow in my wife's expression as here sons give her big old hug and say "I love you Mom." You see my gift involves no money or material things it just involves the Gift of love between a Mother and her sons. My wish can't come true this mothers day but maybe next year will be special and I can once again see that Miracle of love between Mother and her sons on Mothers Day.
God Bless , and remember Support our troops those young men and women sacrifice a great deal to preserve our rights as Americans.
Sincerely,
Mark Fleagle Sr

More commentsThis is a very touching article. Your wish for your wife on Mothers Day is just what I'm sure she would also wish for. Very well done with deep insite.
What a great article, Mark, and thank you to both you and your wife for the sacrifices you make for the sake of freedom in our country. Your boys are blessed to have such parents and I pray you will all be re-united some day soon.Viola
Hi Mark, Congrats! That is truly one of the best gifts we can give each, appreciation. Good on you! Yvonne
Mark, I deplore the war but not the young soldiers fighting it. I hope your sons, and all the sons and daughters, get to come home soon and spend a long healthy life with many mother's days, and father's days into the future. Hannah
I echo the sentiments above about the war, but your words, and your thoughts, were quite beautiful. Congrats on winning and greetings from a yank down under. -Judd
I hope they both come back safe (soon!), and I also hope that we see an end to this terrible war, for the sake of all our troops over there and the innocent people living with it day to day, the civilians.
You and your children are true patriots, I will pray for your mother's day wish to come true. God Bless yor Family.
Hi Mark, bravo-you brought tears to my eyes. I am adding your children to my prayer list. I am for peace and sometimes we need war to have peace. God told us so. So thank you to your sons and to you! Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed or unappreciated! God bless our boys and bring them home with a sound mind. May God encourage your hearts and fill your wife's heart with a supernatural peace and may He fill the void in her heart as only He can. May God continue to bless your marriage. You are a wonderful example of how a man should love his wife. She is blessed. Thanks again for a heart felt wish.
What a special day when you'll all be together again on Mother's Day. Thank you for sharing and for being such a wonderful husband and father!
I am Tillie's sister. I followed the link to this article from a blog her husband created to help us all keep in touch with Mark while he is away from home. Like many of the readers, my eyes blurred up before I got too far into the article. Mark's dad, who I know as Tim, is always fairly quiet when our big, noisy family gets together. He is a great example of 'still waters run deep.' Thanks, Tim, for so publically sharing your love for Tillie and the boys. I picture Mark safe in his heavenly Mother's arms until he returns home to yours and Tillie's. Love Terri
